The announcement that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry , Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will receive the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights award for their work to combat racial injustice has emboldened the couple’s fiercest detractors, including a Kennedy family member.

meghan and harry charitable work with the Archewell Foundation is well-recognized, and Kerry Kennedy, the president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, has previously noted that the couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak out and alter perceptions of racial justice and mental health around the globe.
Kennedy said in a statement this past October that “they embody the kind of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change'”.
Volodimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, and NBA legend Bill Russell will also be recognized at the Ripple of Hope Award Gala in New York City for their contributions to civil rights throughout their lives.
Robert Kennedy Jr. is not pleased with the honor.
The move is opposed by Robert Kennedy Jr., the son of Robert F. Kennedy, but he still believes it is a much better choice than the one they made in 2020 when they gave Dr. Anthony Fauci the honor.
Kennedy’s son told the Daily Mail, “It’s a bewildering choice but still an encouraging step up from 2020.”
Since quite some time, Robert Kennedy Jr. has been banned from Instagram due to his opinions on the coronavirus vaccine, to which he voiced opposition.
Other critics of meghan and harry have spoken out.
Professor David Nasaw, the author of “The Patriarch,” a biography of Robert F. Kennedy, told The Independent that he didn’t believe the former Royal couple had done enough to merit this award and called the move absurd.
“When you consider the past recipients of the Robert Kennedy Prize, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Bishop Desmond Tutu, you have to wonder why Harry and Meghan are present. What in the name of God did they do to deserve this? How much of Harry and Meghan’s wealth is donated to deserving causes?”
